Data Retention Policy

We keep information only for a legitimate service, security, legal, or accounting purpose, then delete or de-identify it where reasonably practicable.

Last updated 20 September 2026

Active accounts and shop records

Account, shop, staff, service, and booking information is retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period after closure so data can be exported, disputes resolved, and accidental loss recovered. Shops control their customer records and should apply retention periods appropriate to their own legal needs.

Financial and payment records

Invoices, receipts, subscription records, payments, refunds, disputes, and related transaction evidence may be retained for at least seven years where needed for New Zealand tax, accounting, chargeback, fraud-prevention, or legal obligations. Clipperly stores payment references and amounts, not full card numbers.

Security, support, and communications

Security and access records are kept only as long as useful for investigation and platform protection. Support and contact messages are retained while the matter is active and for a reasonable follow-up period. Verification codes expire quickly and are not reusable.

Deletion and backups

Account deletion immediately revokes access and removes identifying profile data from active use. Historical business records are unlinked or de-identified where possible. Residual copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until the backup rotation completes, and are not restored except for disaster recovery.
